As a franchisee restaurant owner, I have been able to see the direct results of how the micro blogging site, Twitter, can truly optimize immediate results. We have been using this social media network for several weeks now, and in this time we have driven traffic directly to our stores. When you promote your brand and products, you have to be willing to do a few things in order to give your customer an incentive to make a special trip to your place of business in order to feel it is of value to them. We are doing this by using what we call a “Paperless Coupon”. This is how it works~
- we schedule our tweets, using one of my favorite Social Media dashboards calledHootsuite, to happen around 10am. This daypart gives our customers plenty of time to prepare their mind for lunch or drive time
- we promote for the days business, historically slower days pack more of a “special punch” than let’s say a “Finally Friday” special
- we make sure that they either mention, or show us the SMS tweet on their phone for that day in order to be legit and receive the special
- we make sure our staff has a weekly schedule of what will be “tweeted” so that they can prepare for the day
- we cross promote the same specials on our Facebook Page
- we specifically instruct our staff to promote our pages at the time of check-out and have a “Go To” flyer nearby on the wall for reference
If you are willing to get a bit creative, and still be able to work within a profit margin that is right for your business.. promoting on Twitter will work for You!
